13th NEUROSURGICAL MICROVASCULAR WORKSHOP
November 2 - 3, 2026
Pilsen / Czech Republic

FOREWORD
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to invite you to the 13th NEUROSURGICAL MICROVASCULAR WORKSHOP in Pilsen, Czech Republic, which will be held on November 2 - 3, 2026.
First allow us to thank the expert guarantor: Prof. Martin Sames, President of Czech Neurosurgical Society and chair of WFNS cerebrovascular committee for his support of workshop, that has become a tradition. Further essential components for the existence is the technical background provided by the Institute of Parasitology, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in the past and by Department of pathological physiology, Medical Faculty in Pilsen this year. We would like to use this opportunity and thank head of the department prof. Cendelín and dean of faculty prof. Štengl for their assistance, which is vital for the organization of the workshop.
Microsurgical techniques are very important for the development of neurosurgical skills. Experiments in microvascular anastomosis represent an ideal opportunity for such training. In the light of recent acute ischaemic stroke treatment and early prevention, the clinical indications of EC-IC bypass are being reconsidered. A limited number of the procedures may be performed in selected subgroups of ischemic stroke patients regardless of the results of COSS study. A neurosurgeon should be technically equipped for this situation. The purpose of our workshop is to provide training for those trainees or specialists who want to improve their microsurgical technical skills.
Famous neurosurgeons participated in past workshops. Professors Hermesniemi, Tulleken, Steno and Benes among others. This year it is great pleasure for us to invite Professors Fady Charbel, Director of the Department of Neurosurgery, UIC, Chicago and David J. Langer, Chairmen of the Department of Neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, USA.
Due to the limited capacity of the facilities, the organizers unfortunately had to limit the number of participants and therefore kindly ask for applications to be sent to the address of the organizing committee.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Pilsen.
Yours sincerely
Vladimír Přibáň
